WVIA, the PBS
affiliate in the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre/Hazleton
Pennsylvania region, aired fatherhood advocates'
views on its show
State of Pennsylvania on Thursday,
November 10, at 7 PM EST. Guests included: Karen
Menone, Vice President of
Fathers’ and Children’s Equality of
Pennsylvania; Michael Foersch, a father who says
he has been falsely accused by his ex-wife;
Susquehanna County Judge and Child Custody
Master Kenneth Seamens; family law attorney
Brenda Kobal, Esq.; and newspaper columnist
Glenn Sacks.
Menone spoke
movingly of the way her former sister-in-law has
alienated her brother's children and driven him
out of their lives. Foersch explained that his
ex-wife has made 40 allegations of child sexual
abuse against them, all of them found to be
unfounded, but can still only see his children
in a visitation center. Kobal talked about
Parental Alienation Syndrome, which she called a
"recognized syndrome" and "very common." Sacks
discussed the way restraining orders and false
allegations of domestic violence are used to
drive fathers out of their children's lives.
WVIA TV
covers 22 counties in northeastern Pennsylvania,
including the Pocono region. Like most PBS
affiliates, WVIA aired the anti-father
documentary Breaking the Silence: Children's
Stories on Thursday, October 20.
