Newspaper Retracts Story Based on Sadia's
Claims, Apologizes to Scott Loeliger
A California newspaper which publicized Sadia Loeliger's claims about her
custody case with her ex-husband Scott Loeliger has been forced to retract their
story and apologize to Scott Loeliger.
In the article
Teen Turns Tug-of-War Lessons Into Message (Davis Enterprise,
1/20/05) reporter Lauren Keene repeated claims that Scott Loeliger had verbally
and physically abused her daughter Fatima. In a retraction published on 5/25/05
the Enterprise wrote that the story they were fed "contained many factual
inaccuracies" and "sincerely apologized to Scott Loeliger, Fatima's father, for
any implication that he has abused either Fatima or her mother."
The full retraction/apology reads:
"In January the Enterprise printed a story about Fatima Loeliger and
her activities with the Courageous Kids Network. The story contained many
factual inaccuracies that we were unaware of at the time. We sincerely apologize
to Scott Loeliger, Fatima's father, for any implication that he has abused
either Fatima or her mother Sadiya Alilire. We have chosen, with his consent,
not to publicize his side of the story to avoid further exacerbating the
custodial issues that have harmed Fatima in the past."
