Burk v. Farrell on the 'Wage Gap': Round 2
Feminist Martha Burk of Augusta Golf Boycott
fame and author Warren Farrell debated the wage gap on His
Side on Sunday--to hear the audio, click
here.
This week 20/20 will air a special on the wage gap, pitting
Burk (and Hillary Clinton) on the "women are discriminated against"
side against Farrell. The show can be seen Friday, May 27, at
10 pm Eastern and Pacific, 9 pm Central. Farrell's new book
is
Why Men Earn More: The Startling Truth Behind the Pay Gap --
and What Women Can Do About It.
Update on His Side Advertiser Murdered
A few days ago we reported that Greeta Maikeo, the owner of
a Los Angeles Thai restaurant which advertised on His Side,
was shot and killed during an armed robbery at his restaurant
on Thursday. According to the Thai News Agency (TNA), Greeta
emptied the cash register for the robbers who repaid him by
shooting him twice--in the back.
On the rare occasions that my wife and I
have had time away from our kids to go out on a date, Greeta's
restaurant was our favorite place. Greeta always met us with
a big smile and sent me a Thai beer on the house. An immigrant,
Greeta was always there, working hard to keep the family business
going. According to TNA, this father and husband lost his life
for a lousy $600. Anybody have a rope?
A Victory for Fathers & Children
According to
Ned Holstein
of Fathers and Families
of Massachusetts, "In 1998, Massachusetts passed a law that
forbids all non-custodial parents from obtaining report cards
and other school records concerning their children unless they
first go to court and obtain certification that they are not
batterers."
This law's "all fathers are guilty until
proven innocent" presumption is an outrage, and I had been considering
doing a
His Side with Glenn Sacks
Listener Campaign in support of legislation which would
change it. However, I'm happy to report that apparently this
will not be necessary. Heroic father
Henry M. Fassler, a member
of Fathers and Families,
realized that the Massachusetts law conflicts with federal law
and pressed a complaint at the federal level.
As a result, the U.S. Department of Education
recently sent a warning to Massachusetts Education Commissioner
David P. Driscoll saying "The commonwealth and every school
district in Massachusetts is in violation of federal law, and
has been for years." The letter also gave Driscoll 30 days to
report "on the steps your agency has taken, or will take, to
ensure that local districts in Massachusetts comply with [federal]
requirements as described in this letter."

and Holstein for their great work.
As a former high school teacher I repeatedly
saw the value of fathers' participation in their children's
educations. As I've said on the air before, I could teach a
class for a few weeks and then have a pretty good idea which
kids had fathers in their lives and which ones didn't. I had
few discipline problems in my classrooms but when I did I always
knew that there was one truly effective way to get an errant
boy to change his ways--call his dad at work and explain to
him that he needs to leave work and come to the school to talk
to me about his son's behavior. It was 100% effective.
Wouldn't it be great if you could call a
lawyer to answer your legal questions the same way your health
insurance allows you to visit your doctor when you're sick?
That's what Pre Paid Legal Services Inc. and Subsidiaries does.
For $26 dollars a month they answer any legal question you have.
An indispensable service for divorced dads, pre-paid currently
serves over 1 million families. To learn more, contact independent
associate Harry Prillaman at

or at 1-888-274-2805.
I've received countless e-mails from recently divorced fathers
who are stunned at the raw deal the courts offer them. This
"shock and awe" is captured perfectly in the opening chapter
of A. Green's Blind
Baseball: A Father's War. Green portrays the absurdity
and endless Catch-22s of modern family law so well it would
be funny except it's so sad. I recommend it. To hear A. Green
on His Side, go

Reunification (12/19/04).Trial and appellate lawyer David
A. Sibley handles handle divorces, adoptions, child support,
and child custody. He normally accepts only cases where he feels
real injustice exists and his client is the victim of the injustice.
He handles both large and small cases. He often represents the
"small guy" against the "large guy." You can contact David
Sibley at (361) 882-2377 or at

'Month of Mayhem'
"Protestor shuts down Montreal Bridge."
"Man scales Mount Royal cross." "Stunt forces evacuation of
courtrooms." "Superheroes take bridges." "Superheroes on the
B.C. Legislature and the Johnson Street Bridge."
Through a series of spectacular acts of
civil disobedience, the Canadian "Dads Army" F4J is using nonviolent
resistance to fight the greatest single human rights violation
in the Anglo-American world--the way decent, loving fathers
are being driven out of the lives of the children who love them
and need them.
F4J Canada declared May the "Month of Mayhem"
after Prime Minister Paul Martin failed to heed the group's
40 Day Ultimatum to clean up family law. Shattering Canada's
ethnic and linguistic barrier, Fathers 4 Justice Canada has
united both English and Quebecois fathers in struggle.
F4J Canada leader
Steve Osborne
is the Master of this Mayhem. Osborne will join Glenn on
His Side with Glenn Sacks
on Sunday, May 29 at 5 PM PST/8 PM EST. For those who
