4 Fathers & Families’ Supporters’ Letters Published in Boston Globe

A recent article in the Boston Globe detailed the problems faced by child support obligors in the face a bad economy, and featured a Fathers & Families supporter who was jailed because his diminished income prevented him from paying his all of child support. The story also discussed Fathers & Families' highly-publicized lawsuit against the new, higher Massachusetts child support guidelines.

In response to our Call to Action last week, many of you wrote Letters to the Editor, and the Globe published four of them. Given the Globe’s traditional antipathy towards fathers, the repeated coverage Fathers & Families has garnered and these letters are quite an accomplishment, and reflect our organization’s growing strength...

Griffin-Sebuliba Case--Once Again Feminist 'Family Courts Award Custody to Abusers' Claims Don't Hold Up

"Various feminist groups have gone to bat for Griffin, claiming that the judge had granted custody to an abuser..."

April Griffin had a son with Matthew Sebuliba, and when Sebuliba requested joint custody, Griffin followed with a series of actions her own attorney called “outrageous.”

She claimed, apparently without evidence, that Sebuliba had physically abused her. She claimed that allowing him to change the child’s diaper was “against her religion.” Child welfare workers stated that Griffin became hysterical during a supervised visit by Sebuliba, saying the child was not breathing, and demanded that 911 be called. EMS personnel determined that the boy was fine.

After Sebuliba won custody, Griffin hid the boy in violation of multiple court orders. She spent 8 months in jail for contempt of court, during which the child never was found.
